Getting a Guru

By Donna Speidel

I was in dire need of a new laptop a few months ago, and had a pretty good idea of what I wanted in the way of performance; but I wasn't sure exactly how to get there and what it would cost. Yet, having bought a computer before, I assumed I knew what I was looking for.

I started my search by looking online for something that would meet my needs. Needless to say, there were way too many options available, and the specs read like a text from someone much younger than me: BT, HDMI, DDR3, DIMM… OMG LOL! But I wasn't laughing.

Once my eyes uncrossed, I turned to an expert who was able to help me through the process. The main criteria were processor speed, memory, size/weight, Bluetooth, several USB ports, and a VGA port to hook up to a projector. With my specific needs in mind, my consultant sent me several options within my price point. So I weighed the options and selected the one I'm typing on now. It wasn't the cheapest, but I was getting everything I wanted.

If you're like me, you feel like you can handle most things without consulting an expert; and you can and do. Sometimes, getting a guru is just what you need to save your valuable time and deliver superior results. We can't be the expert on everything, even though we all know someone who thinks they are!

My computer-buying experience reminded me that airport pavement markings are largely misunderstood by many in the industry. Frankly, some of the information being shared by "experts" is just plain wrong! When it comes to airport markings, Sightline's consultants are the experts. If you want to do it yourself, download a free copy of the Airfield Marking Handbook as a reference from our website. When you think of markings – think of Sightline.
