What's New?

The Department of Defense (DoD) published UFC 3-260-04 on 3 January 2018. This document replaces guidance directives from all branches of DoD previously enforced, including Air Force ETL 04-2, Army TM 5-823-4, C1, UFC 3-360-05A, and others. It's equivalent in the U. S. commercial world is FAA Advisory Circular 150/5340-1L (soon to be 1M), and in the international community ICAO Annex 14, Volume I (Aerodromes) and/or Volume II (Heliports).

Airfield markings on military runways will more closely follow FAA guidance relative to the size and placement of those markings. Taxiway markings, including taxiway centerlines, edgelines, and holding position markings will not conform to FAA standards in terms of dimension or enhancements, generally maintaining previous standards. Further, considerable information is provided on the layout of apron markings, aircraft wingspans, etc.

The new document, entitled Airfield and Heliport Marking can be found online on the Resources web page at sightline.us.
